Double-column gantry machining centers built for large, heavy workpieces

GMC WWI-L1813, WWI-L2213 and WWI-L2713 are double-column gantry machining centers made for heavy milling on large workpieces. The dual-column frame with a crossbeam gantry section holds its shape under heavy cutting loads, so accuracy stays put instead of drifting as the cut gets deeper.

  • BT50 spindle, up to 6000 rpm
  • 24-tool disc-type ATC
  • Large worktable rated for heavy loads
  • Optional CNC rotary table (4th axis) for five-face machining

Milling, drilling, reaming, boring and tapping all run in a single clamping. Add the rotary table and you can reach five faces without pulling the part off the table, which cuts re-clamping error and setup time.

Key Advantages

Built for Reliability in the Field

Each part is engineered and QC'd against the exacting standards your equipment demands.

Dual-column

plus crossbeam gantry frame keeps its geometry under heavy cuts, so accuracy holds through long roughing passes

Worktable

is sized and rated for oversized, heavy parts rather than light work pushed to its limit

Milling

drilling, reaming, boring and tapping finish in one clamping, cutting re-fixturing and lost alignment

Where It Works
Feature

Where It Works

  • Heavy milling of large, heavy workpieces that push lighter machines out of tolerance
  • Multi-face machining of parts with complex angles, done with the optional rotary table
  • Mold and die base machining where flatness and pocket accuracy matter
  • Large structural and frame components such as machine bases and weldments
  • Drilling, boring and tapping of large plates in one setup
  • Five-face machining of large parts in a single clamping when fitted with the rotary table

FAQ

Questions Buyers Often Ask

How do I choose between L1813, L2213 and L2713?
Start with the part, not the model number. Send us the workpiece envelope (length, width, height), its weight, and the operations you need. We match those numbers to the worktable size and load rating, then confirm which model and travel fit. If your part sits near a boundary, we will say so before you commit.
Does it really do five-face machining?
Yes, but it depends on the rotary table option. With the CNC rotary worktable (4th axis) fitted, the machine handles rotary-table five-face machining, and parts stay clamped instead of being moved between setups. That is where the re-clamping error savings come from. Without the option, you get the standard three-axis work.
What spindle and tooling does it take?
A BT50 spindle with a 6000 rpm maximum, paired with a 24-tool disc-type magazine. If your process runs mostly small-diameter tools at high speed, tell us and we will flag whether this speed range suits your cycle times before quoting.
What is the largest workpiece it can handle?
It varies by model. Across the series, worktables run from 1000x1800 mm up to 3000x14000 mm, with load capacities from 2 to 95 tons. Those are series-wide ranges, not one machine, so give us your part size and weight and we will point to the model whose table and rating actually cover it.
What is the lead time?
It depends on the model and on whether you add the rotary table or other options. Rather than quote a generic number, we confirm the final configuration with you first, then give a delivery schedule based on that build.
How do you check the machine before shipping?
Each machine is assembled and run against its specification before it leaves, and inspection documentation is available on request. If your project needs specific acceptance tests or third-party inspection, raise it at the quoting stage so it is built into the order.
